How it works
Keelclear is a state-of-the-art navigational safety system that collects data from buoys, beacons, and GPS monitoring for ship's operators to plan voyages so they can safely optimise cargos. The system incorporates the latest research in vessel motion studies and has received wide acclaim from independent experts.
The Three Pillars of KeelClear
Three types of KeelClear product have been developed to assist pilots in Torres Strait manage the safe passage of vessels as per the stringent requirements of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
KeelClear Long-Term Planner has been constructed to PIANC guidelines and allows draft greater than the present 12.2 metre limit. This system is yet to be approved but demonstrates what is possible using current hydrographic data.
KeelClear Planner has been constructed to incorporate current AMSA guidelines which limit the draft to 12.2 metres. This programme is to assist all pilots in Torres Strait.
